Every Picture Tells a Story is the ninth episode of the American sitcom, Reba. The episode opens with Reba, the matriarch of the Hart family, cleaning out the attic and coming across an old photo album. As she takes a trip down memory lane, she reminisces about the good times she had with her ex-husband, Brock, before he left her for his dental assistant, Barbra Jean.
Reba’s daughter, Cheyenne, who is married to Van, is excited to find out the sex of her baby. However, Van has been too busy with football to find out. Cheyenne is convinced that she is having a girl and is already planning a nursery with pink walls. Meanwhile, her brother, Kyra’s, efforts to keep the family dog, Henry, in the house, backfire. The puppy manages to escape and make a mess of the Harper home.
Reba is contemplating what to do with the photo album when Brock arrives to pick up the kids. The two get into a heated argument about the past and Brock accuses Reba of being bitter and vindictive. Hurt by his words, Reba decides to take action and sends him the photo album with instructions to give it back to her when he has added pictures of the kids.
The next day, Brock returns the photo album to Reba with pictures of the kids. However, he has also added a picture of Barbra Jean and he and Reba’s daughter, Kyra. In the picture, Barbra Jean is wearing one of Reba’s old dresses, which Reba had given to her charity. Furious, Reba confronts Barbra Jean and accuses her of trying to replace her as a mother figure to her children.
Reba and Barbra Jean’s argument escalates, and Barbra Jean reveals that she feels threatened by Reba. She tells Reba that despite the fact that she is married to Brock, she still has feelings for him. Reba is taken aback by Barbra Jean’s confession and realizes that even though she has moved on, Barbra Jean has not.
Meanwhile, Van has finally found out the sex of the baby, but he is keeping it to himself. Cheyenne is determined to find out, but Van is enjoying teasing her. When Reba finds out, she tries to convince Van to tell Cheyenne, but he refuses. Eventually, Cheyenne becomes so frustrated that she punches Van, leading to a hilarious scene in which Reba and Van both have black eyes.
As the episode draws to a close, Reba tries to make amends with Barbra Jean, having come to the realization that despite their differences, they are both important figures in the lives of her children. She tells her that she’s sorry for being so hard on her and that she welcomes her into the family. Barbra Jean is grateful for Reba’s understanding and they hug it out.
The episode ends with a heartwarming scene in which Reba and her family are gathered in the living room, flipping through the photo album together. Reba realizes that even though her life has not gone as she planned it, she has a lot to be grateful for. With her family by her side, she feels that anything is possible.
Overall, Every Picture Tells a Story is a classic episode of Reba. It has all the elements that make the show great – humor, heart, and a little bit of drama. It is an episode that fans of the sitcom will want to revisit again and again.
