Reba McEntire stars as the titular character in the hit family comedy Reba, now in its first season. In episode 5, titled "The Steaks Are High," Reba faces a new challenge as she tries to balance her multiple responsibilities while also hosting a dinner party for her new boss.
After landing a job working for a wealthy businessman named Ted Rothman, Reba is eager to impress him and show that she's more than capable of handling her new role as his personal assistant. But when she learns that Ted and his wife are coming over for dinner, she realizes she's in over her head. Not only does she have to create a fancy meal from scratch, but she also has to get her family to behave themselves and not embarrass her in front of her boss.
To make matters worse, Reba's ex-husband, Brock (Christopher Rich), shows up unexpectedly with his new girlfriend, Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman), in tow. Reba is forced to put on a brave face and play hostess, even as she seethes inside at the thought of her ex moving on with someone else.
As the evening progresses, tensions rise and secrets are revealed. Reba's son, Jake (Mitch Holleman), accidentally spills the beans about Ted's recent divorce, causing an awkward moment at the dinner table. Meanwhile, Reba's daughter, Cheyenne (JoAnna Garcia), struggles with her own issues as she worries about her ability to be a good mother.
Throughout it all, Reba tries to keep the peace and ensure that everyone has a good time. But when the steaks she's cooking start to go up in flames, she fears that all is lost. Will she be able to salvage the dinner party and impress her new boss? Or will it all end in disaster?
As always, Reba brings her trademark humor and Southern charm to the screen in this episode. With its relatable storylines and heartwarming moments, "The Steaks Are High" is sure to be a hit with fans of the show.
