Brock's Swan Song is the thirteenth episode of the first season of the comedy series Reba. The show follows the life of Reba Hart (played by Reba McEntire) a single mother of three who navigates her life after her husband Brock left her for his dental hygienist, Barbra Jean (played by Melissa Peterman).
In this episode, Reba is surprised to find out that Brock is going to sing at a charity event, and he needs her to help him pick out a song. Reba reluctantly agrees, but as they begin to look through old country duet albums, their memories start to flood back. They remember the happier times in their marriage, when they loved each other and their lives were simpler.
Meanwhile, Van (played by Steve Howey) is excited about a test that he took at school. He knows he did well, but is anxious to find out his grade. Cheyenne (played by JoAnna Garcia Swisher) is worried that Van will be disappointed if he doesn't do well, so she tries to prepare him for the possibility of a bad grade.
Kyra (played by Scarlett Pomers) has a crush on a boy at school, and Reba tries to help her navigate her feelings. Reba reminisces about her first crush at Kyra's age, and tries to give her some advice about how to approach her crush.
The episode is filled with humor and heartwarming moments, as Reba tries to help her children, even as she struggles with her own feelings about Brock. The scenes between Reba and Brock are particularly poignant, as they remember their past, and acknowledge their present circumstances.
As the charity event approaches, Brock is nervous about singing in front of people. Reba is there to support him, despite her own conflicted emotions. When Brock finally takes the stage, he surprises everyone with a heartfelt and emotional rendition of a classic country song.
In the end, everyone learns something about themselves and their relationships. Van finds out that he did well on his test, and Cheyenne learns that she needs to trust her husband to handle his own disappointments. Kyra learns that it's okay to have a crush, even if it doesn't work out, and Reba and Brock realize that they can still have a connection, even as they move forward with their separate lives.
Overall, Brock's Swan Song is a touching and funny episode of Reba, showcasing the talent of its cast and the heart of its storylines.
