Real Humans is a Swedish television drama series that aired from 2012 to 2014 on SVT. The show is set in a parallel world where human-like androids, known as "hubots," have become a part of everyday life. They are used for everything from manual labor to companionship, and are programmed with advanced AI technology that allows them to learn, adapt, and even feel emotions.

The show focuses on a handful of characters whose lives are intertwined with hubots in various ways. There's Inger (Lisette T. Pagler), a mother of two who buys a hubot to help with household chores but ends up forming an emotional attachment to it. There's Leo (Andreas Wilson), a hubot who has been reprogrammed to have human-like emotions and must navigate the challenges of living in a world where he is not fully accepted. There's Roger (Leif Andrée), a salesman who specializes in selling the most advanced and lifelike hubots on the market. And there's Mimi (Pia Halvorsen), a hubot who works as a sex worker and struggles to come to terms with her own identity.

As the show progresses, it becomes clear that hubots are not just machines, but complex beings with their own desires, fears, and motivations. Some humans view them as mere tools, while others see them as equals or even superiors to humans. There is tension between the two groups, with some humans advocating for hubot rights while others seek to destroy them.

The show explores various ethical and philosophical questions surrounding artificial intelligence, such as whether hubots should be granted the same rights as humans, whether they are capable of true emotions, and whether they should be held responsible for their actions. It also delves into issues of identity, family, and the nature of humanity itself.

Real Humans is a thought-provoking and emotionally engaging drama that will appeal to fans of science fiction and socially conscious storytelling. The show's high production values, strong performances, and gripping plotlines make it a standout in the genre. Whether you're interested in the implications of AI technology or just looking for a well-crafted drama with relatable characters, Real Humans is definitely worth a watch.
