In Series 3 Episode 7 of Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares, famed chef Gordon Ramsay heads to a struggling Indian restaurant in Derby called the Mogul Room. The owners, husband and wife team Kashi and Manisha, took over the restaurant two years prior with no prior experience in the industry, and have been struggling to turn a profit ever since.
Upon arriving at the restaurant, Ramsay is immediately taken aback by the bland and outdated decor, as well as the lack of customers. He samples several dishes from the menu and finds them to be uninspired and lacking in flavor. He sits down with Kashi and Manisha to discuss the issues plaguing their restaurant and quickly determines that their lack of experience, combined with poor management skills and a misguided focus on quantity over quality, is at the root of their problems.
Ramsay immediately sets to work, revamping the menu with fresh, vibrant dishes that showcase the flavors of Indian cuisine, as well as creating a new cocktail menu to entice more customers. He also addresses the poor management practices, retraining the staff in proper food handling and hygiene, and teaching Kashi and Manisha how to run a successful restaurant.
Throughout the episode, tensions run high as Kashi and Manisha struggle to adjust to Ramsay's demanding standards and grueling training regimen. However, as the restaurant begins to see a drastic uptick in business and positive reviews, they begin to understand the value of Ramsay's methods and the importance of quality over quantity.
By the end of the episode, the Mogul Room has been transformed into a thriving, popular restaurant, with Kashi and Manisha finally feeling confident in their ability to manage and grow their business. Ramsay bids them farewell, proud of the progress they've made and confident that they will continue to thrive in the competitive restaurant industry.
