Piloto is the first episode of Queen of the South, a crime drama series that follows the journey of Teresa Mendoza, a Mexican woman who becomes the leader of a powerful drug cartel after her boyfriend is murdered by a rival gang.
The episode starts with Teresa working as a money changer at a street market in Sinaloa, Mexico, where she meets her boyfriend, Guero, a member of the Vargas drug cartel. After spending a passionate night together, Guero tells Teresa that he needs to go on a job, and promises to return soon.
However, things take a turn for the worse when Teresa hears gunshots outside her home, and realizes that the Vargas cartel has been ambushed by their rivals, the Jalisco cartel. She tries to warn Guero, but it's too late, and he is brutally murdered.
Devastated and alone, Teresa flees to the United States, where she hopes to start a new life. She crosses the border illegally, with the help of a smuggler, and arrives in Dallas, Texas, where she reunites with an old friend, Brenda.
Despite her best efforts to go unnoticed, Teresa is soon caught up in the criminal underworld of Dallas, where she meets Camila Vargas, the ruthless leader of the Vargas cartel, and her right-hand man, James Valdez.
Camila takes Teresa under her wing, recognizing her potential and her knowledge of the drug trade. She sends Teresa on a mission to deliver drugs to a client, but warns her that if she gets caught, she will take the fall.
Teresa successfully completes the task, earning Camila's trust and respect. However, she soon realizes that she is in danger, as the Jalisco cartel, who are still after her, have discovered her whereabouts.
In a tense and action-packed finale, Teresa is forced to fight for her life as the cartel closes in on her. Meanwhile, Camila receives a tip-off that her husband is planning a coup against her, and she sets in motion a plan to eliminate him.
Overall, Piloto sets the tone for the rest of the series, introducing us to the key characters and the high-stakes world of drug trafficking. It's a gripping and intense start to a show that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end.
