Sam leaps into the body of an astronomer named Eddie Elroy who is working at the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles. It's May 21, 1966, and there is a comet approaching Earth which Eddie is excited to observe. However, he soon realizes that his mission is not about observing the comet, but about helping his fellow astronomer, Nikki, who is struggling with the fact that she can't see the stars as clearly as she used to due to an eye condition called myopia.
Sam must figure out a way to help Nikki find a way to see the stars again while also dealing with an unexpected challenge - the arrival of Nikki's ex-boyfriend, Frank, who is a wealthy businessman trying to win her back. Sam and Nikki quickly bond over their shared passion for astronomy and Sam comes up with an idea to give her a pair of glasses with lenses that correct her myopia which allows her to see the stars again for the first time in a long time.
Meanwhile, Frank's arrival puts a damper on their newfound friendship. Sam discovers that Frank has been embezzling money from his company and is planning to flee the country. To prevent this, Sam enlists the help of Eddie's friend and fellow astronomer, Charlie, to set up a surveillance camera to catch Frank in the act. They are successful in catching Frank, but he manages to escape before the police arrive.
As the episode comes to a close, Sam successfully helps Nikki regain her love for astronomy and her ability to see the stars, and Frank is left to face the consequences of his actions. The episode touches on themes of friendship, love, and the beauty of the universe we live in.
