Sam leaps into the body of Maddy, a young African American woman living in the south in 1961. Maddy works as a maid for a wealthy white family but dreams of becoming a civil rights activist like her hero, Martin Luther King Jr. As Sam tries to navigate the dangerous racial tensions of the era, he discovers that Maddy's life is in danger as she plans to attend a civil rights rally.
