In the Health & Safety episode of QI season 8, host Stephen Fry is joined by guests Ross Noble, Dara O'Briain, Jack Dee and Phill Jupitus to discuss the topic of health and safety.

The episode opens with Stephen Fry introducing the topic and sharing some shocking statistics about the ridiculous and unnecessary lengths that some people will go to in order to avoid physical harm. For example, one man was so afraid of being hit by a car that he would only cross the road while jumping up and down on one leg.

Ross Noble takes the first turn with a question about the origins of the phrase "injured party." He suggests that it might have something to do with a large party where someone gets hurt, but the real answer is far more complex.

The conversation then moves on to the topic of natural remedies and cures for various ailments. Dara O'Briain shares a story about how he once tried to cure a stomach ache by drinking a pint of Guinness and Rotunda Hospital in Dublin, Ireland, which is famous for its unusual cures.

Jack Dee asks a question about traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture, which leads to a fascinating discussion about the science behind acupuncture and whether or not it actually works. The panel debates whether there is any scientific evidence to support the use of acupuncture, and whether it might just be a placebo effect.

Phill Jupitus takes a turn with a question about the origins of the phrase "an apple a day keeps the doctor away." He suggests that it might have something to do with the fact that apples are high in vitamin C, but the real answer is actually much more interesting.

Throughout the episode, the panelists also explore some of the most common causes of accidents and injuries, such as falling down stairs or tripping on uneven ground. They also discuss some of the more bizarre things that people have done in the name of health and safety, such as insisting on wearing helmets while walking down the street or wrapping their children in bubble wrap to protect them from harm.

As always, the Health & Safety episode of QI season 8 is full of interesting facts, lively debate, and plenty of laughs. Whether you're interested in medicine, science, or just enjoy a good trivia show, this episode is sure to entertain and enlighten.
