In season 7 episode 4, the QI panel tackles the vast subject of geography. Host Stephen Fry welcomes his guests, comedians Jo Brand and Sean Lock along with journalist Brian Blessed and Irish actor Reginald D. Hunter.

The episode kicks off with a discussion on the geography of the moon and lunar geography. As always, there are plenty of interesting and little-known facts which are revealed throughout the episode. For example, we learn that the largest crater on the moon is named after a Jesuit priest, Fr. Nicolaus A. Zucconi who was a respected lunar observer from the 17th century.

Later on the show, the panel delves into the subject of islands and what constitutes an island. This leads the panel to ponder over some amusing, though diverse definitions of what constitutes an island, which are sure to leave viewers in stitches. The discussion moves onto how islands can sometimes change shape over time or even disappear altogether, such as the Island of Bermeja. Throughout this segment, the QI panel share their own personal experiences of islands they have visited, as well as the unique geographical features they have come across.

There are other fascinating topics explored during the episode; one of which is the subject of borders and the peculiar way countries around the world have defined them. Brian Blessed leaves the audience in awe as he shares his experience of visiting the point where four countries converge: Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, and Namibia. The panelists also discuss the importance of borders, citing examples of how it can bring people and cultures together but can also keep them apart, depending on the circumstances.

No episode of QI is complete without some interesting facts that leave the audience scratching their heads. During the Geography episode, we discover that the Republic of Djibouti, located in the Horn of Africa, has the highest rate of lightning strikes in the world, while Tuvalu, a small island country in the Pacific Ocean, holds the title for the highest percentage of overweight population.
