In this episode, Shawn and Gus investigate a case where a young woman named Madison is missing. Madison's father, Stuart, hires Shawn and Gus to find his daughter, who he believes has been kidnapped. Stuart reveals that Madison was corresponding with a man on an online dating site, and he believed that this man may have had something to do with her disappearance.
As Shawn and Gus search for Madison, they discover that she had been communicating with a man named Roman, who claims to be a wealthy businessman. Roman agrees to meet with Shawn and Gus to discuss Madison's disappearance, and they discover that he is in fact a highly advanced robotic companion.
Meanwhile, Juliet struggles with a case of her own. She is investigating the death of a man who appeared to have died of natural causes, but she uncovers evidence that suggests foul play. As Juliet delves deeper into the case, she begins to suspect that the man's wife is responsible for his death.

The episode features the return of Rachael Leigh Cook as Abigail, Shawn's girlfriend. Cook had previously appeared in three episodes of the series, and her character's return adds to the interpersonal drama of the episode.
Overall, Shawn and the Real Girl is a thought-provoking episode that raises interesting questions about what it means to be human. The episode balances humor and drama, and the performances by the cast are excellent. It is a standout episode in an already impressive season of Psych.
