In the season 4 premiere of Psych, titled "Extradition: British Columbia," Shawn and Gus find themselves traveling to Canada to help out an old friend. Their friend, Despereaux, is a suave and sophisticated thief who has been arrested for stealing a valuable artifact from the Canadian government. Shawn and Gus are brought in to help Despereaux clear his name and avoid extradition to the United States, where he faces multiple charges for various crimes.
As soon as Shawn and Gus arrive in Canada, they are met with resistance from the local law enforcement, who are not pleased with their presence. The Canadian Mounties, in particular, are not impressed with Shawn's psychic abilities and do not believe that he can be of any help in solving the case. Undeterred, Shawn and Gus set out to prove their worth and find the real culprit behind the theft.
As they delve deeper into the case, Shawn and Gus are confronted with a number of obstacles, including a dangerous drug cartel and a group of shady art collectors who are all vying for the valuable artifact. Along the way, they also run into a number of familiar faces, including Juliet, who has been sent to Canada to help with the case, and Lassiter, who is gunning for Shawn's job back in Santa Barbara.
Despite the challenges they face, Shawn and Gus remain confident in their abilities and continue to piece together clues that lead them closer and closer to the truth. Along the way, they also find themselves in a number of hilarious and absurd situations, including a disastrous camping trip and a run-in with a group of overly-enthusiastic hockey fans.
As the episode comes to a close, Shawn and Gus find themselves in a high-stakes showdown with the real thief, and tensions are at an all-time high. With the help of Despereaux, they are able to outwit their adversaries and recover the stolen artifact, effectively clearing Despereaux's name and preventing his extradition. However, the victory is short-lived, as a surprise twist at the end of the episode leaves Shawn and Gus with a whole new set of problems to deal with in the episodes to come.
