In the second episode of Project Runway's eighth season, titled "Larger Than Life," the designers are given their second challenge: to create an innovative and avant-garde outfit for a plus-sized model. This episode is all about challenging the designers to think outside the box and create something truly unique that will showcase their design skills and push their creativity to the limit.
The designers begin by meeting their models and taking measurements, which proves to be a bit of a challenge for some of the designers who have never worked with plus-sized models before. Once they have their measurements, the designers have just one day to create their designs, making the time pressure even greater than it was in the first challenge.
As the designers begin to sketch out their ideas, it quickly becomes clear that some of them are struggling with the concept of designing for a larger body type. Some of them are worried that their designs won't translate well to a plus-sized model, while others are concerned that their designs won't be flattering or stylish enough.
Tim Gunn, the show's mentor, makes his rounds to each of the designers to see how they're progressing and offer feedback and advice. He encourages some of the designers to take more risks and think outside the box, while others he advises to simplify their designs and focus on making them more wearable.
As the day comes to a close and the designers begin to put the finishing touches on their designs, there's a flurry of activity in the workroom. Some of the designers are confident that they've created something truly revolutionary, while others are worried that their designs might fall flat.
Finally, it's time for the runway show, where the judges will get a chance to see each designer's creation and offer their critiques. The plus-sized models look absolutely stunning as they walk down the runway in the designers' outfits, and it's clear that the designers have risen to the challenge of creating something that's both innovative and flattering.
In the end, one designer is named the winner of the challenge, while another is sent home. The competition is fierce, but the designers are all determined to continue pushing themselves and creating truly incredible fashion. With each episode, it's clear that Project Runway's eighth season is going to be one to remember.
