The Fashion Farm is the second episode of Project Runway season 7, and it sees the designers leaving the city and heading out to Long Island for some inspiration from nature. Specifically, they visit a farm to get ideas for their next challenge.
The designers are excited to get out of the city and breathe some fresh air, but some are less enthusiastic about the farm setting than others. Mila, for example, calls herself a "city girl" and says she has never been on a farm before.
Once they arrive, they are given a tour of the farm by the owner, who shows them the animals and points out the various plants and flowers that grow there. The designers are tasked with creating a look inspired by the farm, using materials that can be found on the property.
The designers scatter across the farm, gathering materials and ideas for their designs. Some are drawn to the colorful flowers, while others are inspired by the textures of the animals' fur and feathers. Emilio, who grew up on a farm, seems to be in his element and immediately starts sketching out his design.
Back in the workroom, the designers get to work on their pieces. Maya is having trouble deciding on a design and ends up scrapping her first idea and starting over. Jonathan is struggling with the materials, as many of them are too fragile or delicate to be used in his design.
Meanwhile, the judges, including host Heidi Klum and mentor Tim Gunn, visit each designer in their workspace to offer guidance and critique. Tim is impressed with Amy's use of burlap in her design, while Heidi tells Jesse that his dress looks too much like a costume.
As the deadline approaches, the designers rush to finish their pieces. Jonathan is still struggling with his materials and becomes increasingly frustrated as he runs out of time. Meanwhile, Mila realizes she has made a critical error in her design and must scramble to fix it before the runway show.
At the runway show, the judges are impressed with the designers' creative use of materials. Emilio's sheepskin vest and pants are a hit, while Amy's burlap dress receives mixed reviews.
After the judges deliberate, it's time for the elimination. One designer is sent home, while the others move on to the next challenge.
