In Project Runway season 10 episode 7, titled "Oh My Lord and Taylor," the designers are challenged to create a high-end garment that will be sold at Lord and Taylor. Before starting on their designs, the designers are given a tour of Lord and Taylor's flagship store in Manhattan, where they get a taste of what their designs will be up against in the high-end retail market.
The designers must create a cohesive look that is both on-trend and marketable, taking into consideration the brand's aesthetic and target customer. They are given a budget of $300 to purchase fabrics and supplies, and just two days to complete the challenge.
As the designers get to work, tensions begin to rise as they struggle to balance the expectations of the challenge with their own design visions. Some designers struggle to find inspiration, while others clash with their models over fit and styling. Tim Gunn conducts his usual critiques, offering guidance and critique that the designers either take to heart or discard.
As the deadline for the challenge approaches, the designers must present their looks on the runway to the judges, who include host Heidi Klum, fashion designer Michael Kors, and editor-in-chief of Marie Claire magazine Joanna Coles. The judges offer their critiques on each look, assessing the designers' execution of the challenge and whether they successfully captured the spirit of the Lord and Taylor brand.
At the end of the episode, one designer is declared the winner of the challenge while another is eliminated from the competition, leaving the remaining designers to continue their quest to become America's next top fashion designer.
