In Project Runway All Stars season 5 episode 6, titled "Going for Baroque," the remaining designers face another intense challenge to impress the judges and advance in the competition. The episode begins with the announcement of a new sponsor, Swarovski, and the designers are tasked with creating a high-fashion look inspired by the opulence and extravagance of the Baroque period.
The designers visit The Frick Collection museum in New York City to gather inspiration from the Baroque art and architecture on display. They are then given a budget of $350 and two days to complete their looks.
As the designers start sketching and shopping for fabrics and materials, tensions rise as some struggle with the concept of the challenge and others face technical difficulties with their designs. The pressure increases when the judges visit the workroom to check on their progress, giving feedback and criticism on each look.
On the day of the runway, the designers present their creations to the judges: Isaac Mizrahi, Georgina Chapman, and guest judge Jesse Tyler Ferguson. The designs showcase a range of interpretations of the Baroque theme, with some designers incorporating ornate embroidery and embellishments, while others focus on the dramatic silhouettes and bold prints of the period.
The judges critique each look, evaluating the construction, fit, and overall impact of the design. Some designers receive high praise for their creativity and execution, while others are criticized for playing it safe or failing to fully embrace the challenge.
After deliberation, one designer is named the winner of the challenge and another is sent home. The remaining designers move on to the next challenge, one step closer to the grand prize and the title of Project Runway All Stars champion.
