In the fifth episode of Project Runway All-Stars season 1, titled "Clothes Off Your Back," the designers are faced with a unique challenge: they must create a look using donated clothing items from Goodwill. The designers are given a budget of $150 to purchase additional materials and accessories, but must use the donated clothing as the base for their design.
After collecting their items from Goodwill, the designers head back to the workroom to begin their creations. Some designers struggle with the challenge, unsure of how to incorporate the donated items into their designs in a cohesive way. Others embrace the challenge and use the materials to create unique and innovative looks.
The episode features multiple design mishaps and conflicts between the designers as they struggle to complete their looks in the limited time they are given. One designer in particular has difficulty with the challenge and begins to doubt their abilities as a designer.
Throughout the episode, the designers receive critiques from guest judge Mondo Guerra, a former Project Runway contestant and winner of Project Runway All-Stars season 1. Mondo provides valuable insight and feedback to the designers as they work towards completing their looks.
As runway day approaches, tensions run high as some of the designers struggle to finish their pieces in time. The runway show features a wide variety of designs, from bright and bold to sleek and sophisticated, and showcases the designers' unique interpretations of the challenge.
After the runway show, the judges deliberate and ultimately decide which designers will move on to the next round and which will be sent home. The episode ends with the remaining designers reflecting on the challenges they have faced so far and preparing for the next round of the competition.
