After the success of the first season of Primeval, the show returns for an exciting second season with its first episode named "Episode 1." The episode starts with an intense chase sequence, where a creature escapes from the wilderness and enters a busy city area. This incident alerts the team at the ARC (Anomaly Research Centre), where they monitor the prehistoric creatures that come through various time portals in the present day.
The team consists of Nick, whose profound knowledge of prehistoric creatures and unique insights into their behavior patterns make him the ideal candidate to lead the team. Abby is an animal-loving zoologist who joins Nick, and they share a strong connection. Connor is a tech genius who uses his skills to keep the equipment up and running at the ARC. Later in the episode, the team receives a new recruit, Jenny, who has a military background and extensive weapons training, making her a valuable asset to the team.
After the escape of the creature, the team heads out to the site to investigate. They discover that the creature is a Diictodon, a herbivorous reptile-like animal that lived around 245 million years ago during the late Triassic period. The team tracks down the animal, which has made its way into a supermarket and is wreaking havoc. After a tense confrontational sequence, the team manages to capture the creature and bring it back to the ARC.
However, the Diictodon's escape is the least of the teams’ problems. They discover a new anomaly, or portal, which leads to the future. Through the anomaly, they manage to catch a glimpse of a dystopian future, where the world is overrun by terrifying creatures. To make things worse, they encounter a group of heavily armed individuals led by a woman named Caroline. The team is taken aback by the hostile reception of the newcomers, not realizing that their brief encounter with the future results in dire consequences.
The episode showcases various elements essential to the show's success - action, adventure, and mystery. The team's high-stakes encounters are thrilling and keep the viewers on the edge of their seats. The CGI effects are top-notch, and the show's attention to detail is impressive.
Overall, episode one of the second season of Primeval sets a high bar for the rest of the season. The show continues to deliver a fascinating blend of science fiction, action, and adventure, which makes it stand out from other shows. With a terrific cast and engaging storyline, the show promises to be a fantastic viewing experience for the audiences.
