Ep 2. Pride and Prejudice Episode 2

In Pride and Prejudice Episode 2, viewers are transported back to 19th century England where the Bennet family is still desperately searching for husbands for their five daughters. The episode follows the aftermath of Mr. Bingley's arrival at Netherfield and his growing attachment to the eldest Bennet daughter, Jane.

As the episode opens, we see the arrival of Mr. Collins, a distant cousin of the Bennets who is set to inherit their home after Mr. Bennet's death. Mr. Collins is portrayed as a pompous and insufferable man, who immediately ingratiates himself with the lady of the house, Mrs. Bennet, much to the chagrin of her daughters.

Meanwhile, Mr. Bingley's interest in Jane continues to grow, and he invites the entire Bennet family to a ball at his estate, Netherfield. The girls are excited about the prospect of meeting Mr. Bingley's wealthy and aristocratic friends, but their mother is more concerned with the possibility of one of her daughters being proposed to.

At the ball, we see Mr. Darcy's rude behavior towards Elizabeth, despite her attempts to engage him in conversation. This only serves to heighten her dislike of him, and she relays this to anyone who will listen. However, things take a turn for the worse when Jane falls ill at the Netherfield ball, forcing her to stay there for several days and leaving Elizabeth to walk the long distance home in the rain.

Back at Longbourn, the Bennets receive an unexpected visitor in the form of Mr. Collins, who has come to pay his respects. He immediately singles out Elizabeth as a potential wife, much to her dismay. However, when he proposes to her a few days later, she is forced to reject him, despite her mother's protests.

As the episode draws to a close, we see the aftermath of Jane's illness and the impact it has on Mr. Bingley's feelings towards her. Additionally, Elizabeth continues to grapple with her feelings towards Mr. Darcy and his behavior towards her, unsure of whether she can ever forgive him for his rudeness.

Overall, Pride and Prejudice Episode 2 sets up several key plotlines that will carry on throughout the rest of the season. We see the arrival of Mr. Collins, who serves as a potential suitor for the Bennet girls; the burgeoning romance between Jane and Mr. Bingley, which is threatened by Jane's illness; and the continued tension between Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy.
