Prey is a British crime drama television series produced by BBC Worldwide. The show debuted in 2014 and had two seasons with a total of six episodes. Prey follows the story of a police detective named Marcus Farrow who becomes a fugitive after being falsely accused of murder. Farrow is played by actor Philip Glenister in the first season and by actor John Simm in the second season.
The first season of Prey revolves around the story of Detective Sergeant Marcus Farrow. Farrow is at the top of his game as a London detective when he is accused of murdering his own wife and son. The evidence against him is overwhelming, and he is forced to go on the run in order to clear his name. The rest of the first season is a thrilling game of cat and mouse as Farrow tries to evade the police while attempting to find the real killer.
One of the most interesting aspects of Prey is that the story is told from the point of view of the fugitive. This creates a unique perspective for the viewer, who is able to see the police procedural from a different angle. As Farrow goes on the run, he is pursued by a team of detectives led by his former colleague, DCI Susan Reinhardt, played brilliantly by Rosie Cavaliero. Reinhardt is a determined and no-nonsense detective who will stop at nothing to catch Farrow.
Throughout his journey, Farrow encounters a number of other characters who help him along the way. One of these is Detective Sergeant Dave Murdoch, played by Daniel Jillings, who works for the police but is sympathetic to Farrow's plight. Another is Jules Hope, played by MyAnna Buring, a blogger who becomes romantically involved with Farrow after meeting him in a hospital.
The second season of Prey takes place in Manchester and follows the story of another fugitive, prison officer David Murdoch, who is played by actor Philip Glenister. Murdoch is falsely accused of murder after he tries to help a prisoner, Jules Hope, escape from prison. The rest of the second season is a rollercoaster ride as Murdoch tries to evade the police while uncovering the truth behind the murder. John Simm plays the role of Detective Sergeant Marcus Farrow in the second season, who makes a cameo appearance.
The second season of Prey follows a similar structure to the first season, with the fugitive being pursued by a team of detectives. In this case, the team is led by DCI Jane Preston, played by MyAnna Buring, who is determined to catch Murdoch at all costs. Like in the first season, Murdoch encounters a number of other characters who help him along the way, including Jules Hope, who returns from the first season.
Prey is a well-written and well-acted crime drama that keeps the viewer on the edge of their seat. The story is tense and exciting, with plenty of twists and turns to keep the audience guessing. The use of the point of view of the fugitive is an interesting and unique approach that works well, allowing the viewer to see the story from a different perspective. The performances are excellent, with Rosie Cavaliero and MyAnna Buring standing out in particular as the determined detectives who are hot on the fugitive's trail.
Overall, Prey is an excellent crime drama that is well worth watching. The combination of a gripping story, clever writing, and excellent acting make it a standout show that is sure to entertain. Whether you are a fan of police procedurals or just love a good thriller, Prey is definitely one to check out.
