Prank Encounters is a reality prank show that follows host Gaten Matarazzo, known for his role in the popular Netflix series Stranger Things, as he orchestrates elaborate practical jokes on unsuspecting participants. Season 2 of the show premiered on April 1, 2021, with the first episode titled "These Walls Can Talk."
The episode centers around two recent college graduates, Kelson and Justine, who have moved into a new apartment together. They are excited to start their new lives as adults and have big plans for their future. However, their excitement quickly turns to terror when they begin to experience strange occurrences in their new home.
The prank begins with Kelson and Justine being interviewed by Gaten on a fake renovation show called "New Beginnings." They believe that they have been chosen to have their apartment renovated for free and are excited to show off their new home on camera. The crew explains that the renovation process will involve removing a wall in their apartment. However, Gaten informs them that due to some unforeseen circumstances, the renovation team will not be able to complete the job, and they will have to do it themselves.
Initially hesitant but determined, Kelson and Justine begin to take down the wall. However, as they begin to break through the plaster, they hear strange noises coming from the other side. Thinking that it might be a trapped animal, they continue to investigate, only to find a room that was previously inaccessible. Inside the room, they discover a series of strange symbols written on the walls and floor.
As they continue to explore the room, they begin to experience paranormal activity, including objects moving on their own and strange whispers. The activity becomes increasingly aggressive, and they fear for their safety. They eventually manage to escape the room and flee the apartment.
The prank is revealed to Kelson and Justine when they are brought into a room where their friends and family are waiting. Gaten explains to them that they have been the victims of a prank and that the paranormal activity was all staged for the show. Kelson and Justine are relieved and grateful that no harm was done and laugh off the prank.
Overall, "These Walls Can Talk" is an entertaining and suspenseful prank that plays off the horror genre, with cleverly executed scares and relatable characters. As with all episodes of Prank Encounters, the production value is high, and the storyline is well-written and executed. It is a strong start to the new season and promises more fun and laughter to come.
