PowerNation: Engine Power Season 3 Episode 10

Ep 10. Mopar Magic

  • April 30, 2016

In this episode of PowerNation: Engine Power, the hosts Mike and Pat set their sights on a special project: a 1972 Dodge Dart with a 318 engine that needs some serious work. They plan to transform the car into a high-performance machine with the help of a Mopar engine and an Edelbrock intake manifold.

The first step is removing the old engine, which is a challenging task that takes a bit of elbow grease. Once that's done, the team starts prepping the new engine by installing the new intake manifold and a few other key components. Mike and Pat also upgrade the camshaft and valve train to ensure the car can handle the increased power.

Of course, no high-performance engine is complete without a good exhaust system, so the guys also install a set of headers and mufflers. They also replace the fuel system with a new carburetor and fuel pump, which will help deliver the power the Mopar engine is capable of unleashing.

As the build progresses, the team runs into a few hiccups along the way. They discover that the new engine doesn't quite fit in the car's engine bay, which means they'll have to do some custom fabrication work to make it all fit. They also encounter some issues with the exhaust system, which requires some creative solutions to get it just right.

Despite these challenges, the team soldiers on, determined to bring this classic Dart back to life. They also discuss the history of Mopar engines, and how they've become synonymous with high-performance cars. It's clear that for these guys, working on cars is more than just a hobby - it's a passion that they love to share with others.

As the episode comes to a close, the car is up and running, and the team takes it out for a spin to see how it performs on the open road. It's clear that the upgrades have made a huge difference - the car is faster and more powerful than ever before. But more than that, it's a testament to the power of hard work and determination, and the satisfaction that comes from transforming something old and worn out into something beautiful.
