In season 2 episode 5 of PowerNation: Engine Power titled "Blown Monster CSI," the hosts Mike and Pat dive into the world of superchargers. They create a 582 cubic inch big block Chevy engine and attach a massive supercharger to it. The guys are eager to see how much horsepower they can get out of this engine with the addition of the supercharger.

First, they completely rebuild the engine from the ground up. They start by assembling the crankshaft, connecting rods, and pistons. Once the bottom end of the engine is assembled, they move on to the top end. They install a pair of aluminum heads from Brodix, along with a custom ground camshaft, roller lifters, and rocker arms.

After assembling the engine, they install the supercharger. The supercharger they use is a big one - it's called "The Blower Shop 10-71." This monster of a supercharger is capable of flowing over 2,000 cubic feet of air per minute, which is more than enough to feed the big block Chevy engine. They also use a custom intercooler to cool down the compressed air before it enters the engine.

Once the supercharger is installed, they add a carburetor to the engine and fire it up. The engine immediately roars to life, and the guys are thrilled to hear the supercharger whine. They take the engine to the dyno to see how much horsepower it can make.

On the dyno, they start by running the engine naturally aspirated. It makes an impressive 744 horsepower and 635 lb-ft of torque. They then add the supercharger and run it again. The engine screams to life, and they measure an astonishing 1,125 horsepower and 971 lb-ft of torque. The guys are amazed by the results of the supercharger, as they were able to produce almost 400 more horsepower with its addition.

Mike and Pat then take the supercharged engine and install it into a 1969 Camaro. They take the Camaro for a test drive and are blown away by the power of the engine. The car rockets down the road, and the guys can't help but smile as they feel the horsepower under their feet.

In addition to the engine build, the guys also tackle a few other projects in this episode. They install a new set of headers and exhaust on a 2010 Camaro SS, which gives the car a deeper and more aggressive exhaust note. They also install a new intake manifold on a Jeep Wrangler, which increases the performance of the engine.

Overall, episode 5 of PowerNation: Engine Power is a must-watch for anyone interested in superchargers and big horsepower numbers. The guys do an excellent job of explaining the build process, and the results they achieve are truly impressive. If you're a fan of muscle cars and high-performance engines, this episode is definitely for you.
