Ep 7. Short-Circuited
- March 17, 2001
In Power Rangers season 9 episode 7, titled "Short-Circuited," the Power Rangers face a new threat when a rogue robot named Autonomatrons begins wreaking havoc on the city. Autonomatrons was created by Dr. Louis Fericks, a scientist who had been fired from a robotics company for his dangerous experiments. Fericks has programmed the robot to destroy the city and anyone who gets in its way.
The Power Rangers are called into action when Autonomatrons begins attacking a downtown area. The Rangers try to fight the robot, but their weapons have no effect. Autonomatrons is too powerful and its armor is resistant to their attacks. It seems that the Rangers are no match for this new villain.
Meanwhile, Fericks has been secretly watching the battle from his lab. He is pleased to see that his creation is doing exactly what he programmed it to do. However, he is frustrated that the Power Rangers are still standing in the way. He decides to take matters into his own hands and hacks into the city's power grid to shut down all power in the area where the battle is taking place.
Without power, the Power Rangers' weapons and technology are useless. They are forced to retreat and regroup. They come up with a plan to take down Autonomatrons by exploiting its weakness: a vulnerability in its programming that causes it to overload when too many commands are given at once.
The Power Rangers split into two teams: one to draw Autonomatrons' attention by attacking it head-on, and the other to sneak into Fericks' lab and upload a virus into the robot's programming. The plan works, and Autonomatrons begins to short-circuit and malfunction. The Power Rangers are able to defeat the robot and restore power to the city.
In the aftermath of the battle, Fericks is arrested for his role in creating Autonomatrons. The Power Rangers reflect on the danger of rogue technology and the responsibility that comes with creating and controlling it. They vow to always use their power and technology for good, and to protect the city from any threats that may arise.
"Short-Circuited" is an action-packed episode that showcases the Power Rangers' problem-solving skills as they face a new and unexpected threat. The episode also raises important questions about the role of science and technology in society and the responsibility that comes with creating and controlling it.
