Ep 7. King of the Heap

In the Pound Puppies season 1 episode 7 titled King of the Heap, the team at Shelter 17 gets a new arrival in the form of a very irritable dog named Maverick. Meanwhile, Mayor Jerry Springer plans to hold a city-wide dog show and announces that he's accepting applications from all dogs in the area. The winning dog will receive a grand prize of $10,000, which naturally catches the attention of Maverick's former owner, a greedy, selfish man named Bernie.

Bernie is determined to win the dog show with Maverick's help and shows up at the pound, begging for his former pet's return. However, the Pound Puppies team quickly realizes that Bernie is not a responsible pet owner and decides that Maverick's better off staying at the shelter, where he'll be safe and taken care of.

As the deadline for the dog show approaches, Mayor Springer pays a surprise visit to the shelter, intent on meeting Shelter 17's finest dog candidates for the competition. It's a race against time as Lucky and the Pound Puppies team scramble to get Maverick to participate in the contest. Will Maverick come out of his shell in time for the show, and will he finally find the forever home he so desperately needs?
