Ep 1. The Spinach Overture
In the opening episode of season three of Popeye, titled "The Spinach Overture," our beloved sailor man finds himself in a tight situation as he tries to rescue his lady love Olive Oyl from the clutches of his arch-nemesis, Bluto. Adding to his woes is the fact that he has run out of his trademark spinach, leaving him without his much-needed boost of strength.
The episode begins with Popeye on a romantic boat ride with Olive Oyl, only to be intercepted by Bluto, who steals Olive away and takes her to his hideout. Determined to save her, Popeye races to the hideout, but not before his boat is capsized and his spinach can is lost at sea.
As he arrives at the hideout, he is confronted by Bluto and his goons. Popeye tries to fight them off, but without his spinach, he is no match for their strength and numbers. In a stroke of luck, Popeye manages to find a trumpet lying around and decides to use it to his advantage. He starts playing what is now famously known as the "Spinach Overture," a tune so powerful that it awakens his inner strength and gives him the power he needs to defeat his enemies.
With his newfound strength, Popeye takes down Bluto and his goons, rescuing Olive and making his escape. As he rows away with Olive by his side, he plays the "Spinach Overture" once more, bringing a smile to Olive's face and a sense of victory to his heart.
