Police Rescue season 1 episode 7, titled "Reunion With Snake" follows the work of the Emergency Services Unit (ESU) of the New South Wales Police Force as they tackle their most challenging operation yet.
The episode opens with the ESU team responding to a call from a young woman who is trapped on a ledge 15 floors up on a towering skyscraper in the heart of the city. As the team rush to the scene, they have no idea this will be only the beginning of a night that will test every ounce of their physical and emotional strength.
Shortly after their arrival at the skyscraper, the team gets word of a larger emergency in a remote part of the city. A group of men have become trapped in a mine shaft after an explosion and cave-in. Quick thinking and dynamic leadership from Sergeant Jo Moody, the team leader, ensures that resources are allocated efficiently and the team can split up to deal with the two emergencies.
With the mine shaft operation clearly requiring the majority of the team's attention, senior officer Kevin "Nipper" Harris stays behind at the skyscraper to help the young woman rescued from the ledge recover from her traumatic experience. As he attempts to build a rapport with the woman, Nipper discovers she is a former partner of his, someone he hasn't seen for almost 20 years.
As tensions mount in the mine shaft as the ESU team faces one setback after another, Nipper tries to reconnect with his former partner and see if he can help her through the trauma she suffered. As night turns to day and the sun begins to rise, the team finally meets with success in both rescues.
Overall, "Reunion With Snake" features all the elements of a classic Police Rescue episode. There are large scale emergencies, heart-thumping moments of danger, and strong emotional beats that show the human side of the ESU team and the people they rescue. Throughout the episode, the team's camaraderie and ability to work well under extreme pressure is on full display, as is their commitment to a job in which a single misstep could mean life or death.
