Ash, May, Brock, and Max are headed to an upcoming Pokémon auction to watch the bidding frenzy over a rare and mysterious Pokémon egg. The group arrives at the auction, which features trainers from all over the world bidding on valuable and rare Pokémon items, including held items, unique Pokeballs, and rare gems.
As they scout the scene, they meet Team Rocket, who also have their eye on the egg and plan to steal it. They sneak into the auction house in the hopes of stealing the egg, but they quickly learn that they're not alone in their plot. Other trainers are also competing for the egg, and the bidding quickly soars into the millions of dollars.
Meanwhile, Ash and his friends meet up with an old acquaintance, a rich girl named Georgie who has a bit of a crush on Brock. She reveals that she's also participating in the auction and is interested in purchasing the egg to add to her prestigious collection of Pokémon.
As the bidding frenzy continues, Ash and his friends worry about the fate of the egg, as the trainers in the race for the egg seem to be ignoring the welfare of the unborn Pokémon inside. Soon, the egg hatches and a new Pokémon is born, but it's not what anyone was expecting.
The newest Pokémon is revealed to be a Wynaut, a small, blue, and unassuming Pokémon that seems to be in a constant state of yawning. The trainers are initially disappointed, as many of them were hoping for a more rare and valuable Pokémon. However, they soon discover that Wynaut has a unique ability that makes it a valuable addition to any trainer's team.
The rest of the episode follows the trainers as they adjust to the quirks of their new Pokémon and learn to appreciate the unique abilities that each one possesses. Ash and his friends help Georgie protect her newly acquired Wynaut from Team Rocket's repeated attempts to steal it, and they eventually succeed in thwarting their plans.
The episode ends with Ash and his friends saying goodbye to Georgie and the other trainers as they move on to their next adventure. As they leave the auction house, they reflect on the importance of valuing each Pokémon for their individual abilities and characteristics, rather than their rarity or market value.
