Ep 33. Which Wurmple's Which?

Ash and his companions continue their journey through the Hoenn region, and they stumble upon a Wurmple infestation in the forest. Ash is excited to catch one of them, but there's a problem: he can't tell which one is which!

The group meets a scientist named Professor Sebastian who specializes in Wurmple research. He explains that there are two different types of Wurmple: one eventually evolves into a beautifly while the other evolves into a dustox. The difference is subtle, and it all depends on the Wurmple's personality.

The crew decides to help Professor Sebastian with his research and explore the forest to find out which Wurmple is which. They observe the Wurmples' behavior, feeding habits, and battle styles, but they are still unable to determine which Wurmple will evolve into which Pokémon.

In the meantime, Team Rocket has their eyes on the Wurmple as well. They devise a plan to catch all the Wurmple and sell them to the highest bidder. However, their plan backfires when they too can't figure out which Wurmple is which and end up with a mix of beautifly and dustox.

Back at the research facility, Professor Sebastian is quick to notice that Team Rocket's Wurmples have evolved into both beautifly and dustox. He comes up with a theory that a Wurmple's evolution is not solely determined by their personality, but also by the environment they are raised in.

Finally, Ash and his friends have a breakthrough. They realize that Wurmple's scent can be a determinant in their evolution. Beautifly's scent is sweet, and Dustox's is pungent. Ash tests this theory on his Wurmple, named Silkie, by having her battle another Wurmple and observing her scent. Silkie smells sweet and evolves into a beautifly.

With this newfound knowledge, the team helps to sort the rest of the Wurmple and figure out which ones will evolve into beautifly or dustox. Ash catches a beautifly and a dustox, but he also decides to keep Silkie on his team.

At the end of the episode, the team says goodbye to Professor Sebastian and continue their journey through the Hoenn region, ready to face more challenges and discover more about the Pokémon world.
