Ash, Misty, and Brock journey to Blue Moon Falls on a mission to retrieve a special meteorite that is said to enhance the power of Water-type Pokémon. They run into a group of scientists studying the meteorite, including Professor Jacuzzi and his assistant, Wilhelmina.

As they investigate the area, they come across a local legend about a guardian Pokémon of Blue Moon Falls who is said to appear only during a blue moon. Ash and the gang are skeptical about the legend, but they soon encounter a mysterious Pokémon who appears to be injured.

The Pokémon is revealed to be a Ledian, and Wilhelmina decides to take care of it while it heals. However, Jacuzzi is more interested in studying the Ledian and wants to use its energy to boost the power of the meteorite.

As they wait for the blue moon to appear, the gang learns about the history of the guardian Pokémon and how it was once a protector of the meteorite. They realize that the Ledian they found may be the guardian Pokémon, but they must protect it from Jacuzzi's selfish intentions.

When the blue moon finally appears, the Ledian reveals its true power and transforms into a Celebi. Jacuzzi attempts to capture Celebi, but Ash and the gang band together to stop him and protect the guardian Pokémon.

In the end, Celebi returns to its home in the forest, and Wilhelmina decides to leave her career as a scientist to dedicate herself to protecting and caring for Pokémon. The gang continues on their journey, stronger and more knowledgeable about the power of guardian Pokémon and the importance of protecting and cherishing them.
