Ep 17. Getting a Jump on the Competition!

Ash and his friends arrive at the Alola Pokémon Academy on Melemele Island and immediately head to the practice field to train. Their intention is to prepare for the upcoming Pokémon Base tournament, a popular game in Alola that is similar to capture the flag.

While training, they cross paths with a group of local Pokémon trainers who are also looking to compete in the tournament. One of the trainers, Hau, offers to show them around the academy and introduces them to the professors and students. Ash is excited to see that one of the esteemed professors is Professor Kukui, who he had met previously during his adventures through Alola.

As they explore the academy, Ash and his friends notice that each of the trainers they encounter has a unique style of battling and training. They quickly realize that they will have to adapt to these different styles if they want to succeed in the tournament.

With the help of their new friends, Ash and his companions begin to develop new strategies and techniques. Lillie and Sophocles focus on defense, while Lana and Mallow work on distracting their opponents. Kiawe uses his knowledge of the terrain to gain an advantage, and Ash focuses on improving Pikachu's speed and agility.

As they continue to train, however, they encounter a rival group of trainers who are also preparing for the tournament. This group is led by a trainer named Gladion, who seems to be a force to be reckoned with. Despite their differences, Ash and Gladion agree to a practice battle, hoping to gain an understanding of each other's skills and strengths.

The battle is intense and both sides learn a great deal, but it ends in a draw. Gladion compliments Ash on his skill and determination, but warns him that the competition will only get tougher from here on out.

With the tournament rapidly approaching, Ash and his friends train even harder. They work on their timing, their coordination, and their communication, determined to come out on top. Finally, the day arrives and the tournament begins.

Ash and his friends make it through the early rounds with ease, despite facing some tough opponents. Each time, however, they learn more about the competition and adjust their tactics accordingly. As they progress through the tournament, they find themselves facing off against Gladion and his team once again.

The battle is fierce, with both sides pushing themselves to the limit. Ash and Gladion each call upon their best Pokémon, and both sides employ a range of tactics and strategies. In the end, however, Ash and his friends come out on top, winning the tournament and earning the respect of their opponents.

As the episode ends, Ash and his friends celebrate their victory, but also reflect on what they have learned. They are grateful for the friendships they have made and the lessons they have learned, knowing that they will carry these experiences with them as they continue their journey through the Alola region.
