Ep 17. To Master the Onixpected
As Ash and his friends continue their journey through the Johto region, they stumble upon a small town called Violet City. The town is home to a famous gym run by the Gym Leader, Falkner, who specializes in flying-type Pokemon.
Excited to gain another gym badge, Ash immediately heads to the gym, but quickly realizes that something is amiss. The gym is closed, and Falkner's father, the previous Gym Leader, explains that his son has been training in a nearby cave with his Onix.
Curious about Falkner's training methods, Ash and his friends decide to investigate the cave. Once there, they find Falkner and his Onix working tirelessly to perfect a new technique known as the Onixpected.
The Onixpected is a move that combines Onix's rock-hard body with its seismic powers to create a powerful shockwave. With this move, Falkner hopes to defeat all challengers who come to his gym.
Intrigued by the technique, Ash asks Falkner if he can learn it too. Falkner agrees, but warns Ash that it is a difficult move to master. The training begins, with Falkner and Onix showing Ash the ropes.
At first, Ash struggles with the Onixpected. It requires him to coordinate his movements with Pikachu, who uses his electricity to help create the shockwave. But as he trains more, Ash begins to understand the timing and rhythm of the move.
Meanwhile, Team Rocket has been spying on Ash and his friends. They see the potential of the Onixpected and decide to steal it for themselves.
One evening, as Ash and Falkner take a break from their training, Team Rocket strikes. They capture Onix and use it to create the Onixpected, hoping to use the move against Ash and his friends.
But Ash and Falkner won't give up that easily. They team up with Pikachu and Pidgeotto to battle Team Rocket and retrieve Onix. With the help of the Onixpected, they defeat Team Rocket and rescue Falkner's Pokemon.
After the battle, Falkner congratulates Ash on mastering the Onixpected. He is impressed by Ash's determination and dedication to becoming a better Pokemon trainer.
The episode ends with Ash and his friends saying goodbye to Falkner and Violet City and heading off on their next adventure. Ash has gained another badge and the experience and knowledge to become an even better Pokemon trainer.
