Ep 6. Facing the Grand Design!

With the Kalos region's Gym battles behind him, Ash sets his sights on a new challenge: the upcoming Lumiose Conference of Kalos! While Serena watches over her injured Fennekin, Ash and Clemont get into a training battle with Froakie and Bunnelby, respectively. However, their friendly competition is soon interrupted by none other than Sawyer, a young Trainer whom Ash had battled during his travels through the Kalos region. Sawyer is practicing for the Lumiose Conference as well and he enthusiastically proposes a battle with Ash, with the winner getting to choose the type of battle they'll have in the Conference!

Sawyer's battle strategies completely stymie Ash, who finds his Pikachu hard-pressed to even land a hit. Flustered, Ash makes an uncharacteristically reckless move and falls into Sawyer's trap, losing the battle. Reeling from his loss, Ash tries to seek out Sawyer's hiding place so that he can watch his new rival's training sessions, hoping to learn something from his techniques.

In the meantime, a mysterious old woman named Olympia contacts the Psychic-Type specialist Gym Leader Korrina in order to tell her about the 'grand design' that has been set in motion. Korrina is curious and troubled by what this could mean and sets out with Ash and the gang to Olympia's tower to find answers.

Safely ensconced within the tower, Olympia greets Korrina and shares her vision of the 'grand design', a cosmic plan that has been set into motion far beyond the realms of the human world. She reveals that Ash, Serena, Clemont, and Bonnie all have a key part to play in what's about to unfold and provides them with a mysterious item each to help them on their journey. As Ash and his friends try to make sense of Olympia's words, they suddenly find themselves confronted by a strange, ethereal presence and a battle ensues.

Although Ash and his friends struggle at first, they soon realize that their unique combination of skills is more than a match for their adversary. Thanks to their courage and determination—and Olympia's mysterious gifts—Ash and his friends are eventually able to overcome their foe and discover a new layer to the grand design that only raises more questions. Where will their journey take them next? And how will their newfound knowledge influence their performance at the Lumiose Conference? Find out in the next exciting episode of Pokemon!
