Ash and his friends head to the Dragon Village to witness the Meteonite, a meteor that only appears once every hundred years. Along the way, they come across an Emolga, a Pokémon that uses its cuteness to its advantage. Emolga steals food from Ash and his friends, leading them on a chase.
They eventually catch up to Emolga and Ash decides to catch it. However, Emolga uses its cuteness to manipulate Ash and his friends, leading to comedic antics. Meanwhile, Team Rocket is also after the Meteonite and attempts to steal it.
When Ash and his friends finally make it to the Dragon Village, they discover that their Pokémon have been taken by a group of wild Pokémon led by Emolga. The group of wild Pokémon plans to use Ash's Pokémon to steal the Meteonite.
Ash and his friends team up with Iris, a Dragon Village resident, to stop the wild Pokémon and take back their own. Emolga overhears the plan and decides to help out, using its cuteness to distract the wild Pokémon.
With Emolga's help, Ash and his friends are able to retrieve their Pokémon and stop Team Rocket from stealing the Meteonite. In the end, Ash decides not to catch Emolga but the little Pokémon decides to join them regardless.
