Ep 6. Nosing 'Round the Mountain
- TV-Y7
Ash and the gang are still on their way to Lake Valor for the next gym battle when they stumble upon some curious behavior among some Nosepass. They soon learn that a nearby Magnetic mountain is causing the Nosepass to become disoriented and lose their sense of direction, causing them to migrate in the wrong direction and endangering their survival.
Ash and friends decide to help out by navigating the Nosepass through the mountain's magnetic field and back on track to their home. Along the way, they encounter a rival trainer named Paul who is also interested in capturing Nosepass. Paul has a far more competitive attitude towards capturing Pokemon, one that puts Ash and his friend's more lighthearted method of interacting with them to shame.
Paul views capturing Pokemon as a job to be done with as little fuss as possible, and doesn't see the point of relationships or bonding with Pokemon. Although his cold and calculating attitude rubs Ash and the gang the wrong way, they still manage to work together in order to help the Nosepass.
As they help the Nosepass navigate through the mountain, they face numerous challenges, including avoiding a group of Ursaring who are also affected by the mountain's magnetic field, as well as some technical difficulties with the equipment they need to get the Nosepass safely through the mountain.
Finally, they reach the other side of the mountain and lead the Nosepass safely home, and Ash and his friends feel a great sense of accomplishment. Although Paul remains distant and unimpressed with their efforts, the gang knows that they did the right thing in helping the Nosepass and are content with their victory.
"Nosing 'Round the Mountain" is an entertaining and heartwarming episode of Pokemon that showcases the goodness of the main characters and their compassion for all creatures great and small. It's a great example of how Pokemon is more than just a game or a TV show, but an avenue for learning about friendship, teamwork, and empathy.
