Ep 46. So Near, Yet So Farfetch'd

In Pokemon season 1 episode 46, entitled So Near, Yet So Farfetch'd, Ash, Misty, and Brock continue their journey to the Vermilion City Gym. Along the way, they come across a Farfetch'd being chased by a group of Spearow. The group decides to intervene and help the Farfetch'd escape from its attackers.

After rescuing the Farfetch'd, Ash and his friends learn that the Pokemon belongs to a young girl named Suzy, who is a trainer of Farfetch'd and an apprentice to a famous chef. Suzy tells Ash and his friends that she needs Farfetch'd to help her with her training, as she is hoping to become a successful chef like her mentor. However, Farfetch'd has gotten loose and now she needs the group to help her track it down.

They search for Farfetch'd and eventually find it at the Vermilion City Pokemon Center, where it is causing chaos and stealing food from the cafeteria. Suzy and Ash attempt to catch Farfetch'd, but it proves to be too quick and elusive. They also discover that the Vermilion City Gym leader, Lt. Surge, is in the Pokemon Center and challenges Ash to a battle.

Ash agrees to the battle, but he insists they must capture Farfetch'd first. Suzy suggests to use some homemade Poke food to lure Farfetch'd out of hiding and Ash uses his Pikachu to effectively carry out this plan. The group catches Farfetch'd, but the Pokemon escapes again after becoming spooked by a group of Zubat.

Ash, Misty, Brock, and Suzy eventually catch up to Farfetch'd again at a nearby dam. Ash decides to battle Lt. Surge first before attempting to catch Farfetch'd again. The battle is intense, with Ash coming close to losing Pikachu. Despite this, Pikachu manages to defeat Lt. Surge's Raichu, earning Ash the Thunder Badge.

After the battle, Ash and his friends continue their search for Farfetch'd. They eventually find it at the dam, where it is once again being chased by the Spearow from earlier. Ash and Pikachu fight off the Spearow, while Suzy successfully captures Farfetch'd.

In the end, Suzy thanks Ash and his friends for their help in capturing Farfetch'd. She tells them that she will continue to train with Farfetch'd in hopes of achieving her dream of becoming a successful chef. The episode ends with Ash and his friends continuing their journey to the Vermilion City Gym, now with an additional new friend, Suzy.
