Ep 42. The Song of Jigglypuff
Ash, Misty, and Brock head to a nearby park where they hear a Jigglypuff singing. As they approach, they find a group of people asleep, including a Snorlax blocking their path. Ash tries to move it, but soon learns that Snorlax will only wake up on its own or with the help of a PokeFlute.
As they wait for Snorlax to wake up, they meet a budding musician, Nastina, who dreams of performing on stage. She's practicing her song with her Jigglypuff, Pink, but no one seems interested in her music. Jigglypuff, however, is a skilled singer and entertains everyone who listens.
As Nastina grows jealous of Jigglypuff's ability to captivate an audience, Pink becomes fed up with her owner's complaints and runs away. Nastina is devastated and tries to find a new singer for her upcoming performance.
Meanwhile, Ash and his friends continue their journey to the next gym, but their path is blocked by a raging river. They overhear Nastina searching for a new singer and decide to help her out. Brock suggests Jigglypuff, but Nastina refuses, saying that Jigglypuff is too common.
In a twist, Jigglypuff overhears Nastina's comments and decides to leave on her own. The gang runs after her, eventually stumbling upon Team Rocket trying to steal Jigglypuff for themselves. They manage to stop them, but Jigglypuff becomes frustrated with her ability to put everyone to sleep and storms off.
Ash and his friends find Jigglypuff singing by herself, and Ash asks if she'll help Nastina perform. Jigglypuff agrees, but Nastina is still hesitant. After seeing Jigglypuff's determination to perform despite Nastina's comments, however, she has a change of heart and asks Jigglypuff to be her lead singer.
As the day of the performance approaches, Team Rocket tries to steal Jigglypuff once again, but this time Nastina and the gang join forces to stop them. In the end, Jigglypuff and Nastina's performance is a great success, and Jigglypuff gets the recognition she deserves for her talent.
