Ep 23. Haunter vs. Kadabra

Ash and his friends continue their journey through the Kanto region in search of new Pokemon to catch. In episode 23, titled "Haunter vs. Kadabra," they arrive in Saffron City, which is known for its Psychic-type Pokemon.

As they explore the city, Ash and his friends meet a young girl named Sabrina, who is the Gym Leader of Saffron City Gym. However, she’s not what they expected. Sabrina is a serious, almost emotionless person, and her psychic powers intimidate Ash and his friends.

While at the Gym, Ash challenges Sabrina to a battle. However, Sabrina has a secret weapon - her Kadabra, a Psychic-type Pokemon known for its incredible psychic powers.

Ash, in turn, decides to use his newly acquired Ghost-type Pokemon, Haunter, to battle Kadabra. Haunter, who is known for its incredible speed and ability to phase through objects, manages to outmaneuver Kadabra’s attacks. However, Kadabra’s psychic powers allow it to predict Haunter’s moves and counterattack with its own psychic attacks.

The battle between Haunter and Kadabra is intense and evenly matched. Both Pokemon are determined to emerge victorious, and neither one is willing to back down. As the battle heats up, Sabrina is impressed by Haunter’s battling style and agrees to the victory conditions.

In the end, the battle is a draw, and Sabrina agrees to give Ash and his friends the Marsh Badge, which allows them to enter the Fuchsia City Gym. She even agrees to trade her Kadabra for Ash’s Haunter, giving Ash an incredibly powerful Psychic-type Pokemon to add to his team.
