Ep 10. You Said a Mouthful!
- December 13, 2003
Ash and his friends are on their way to the next Gym Battle when they stumble upon a deserted town. After a bit of investigating, they discover that the entire town is hiding in fear from a giant Whismur that has been terrorizing them. As they attempt to come up with a plan to stop the rampaging Pokémon, they meet a young girl named Melody who claims to have a way to communicate with Whismur.
Melody reveals that she has the ability to speak any language, including that of Pokémon. She explains that Whismur is upset because the townspeople are constantly making loud noises and disturbing its peace. In order to calm Whismur down and stop it from causing any more damage, Melody proposes that they have a quiet contest. The person who can go the longest without making any noise will be declared the winner.
As the contest begins, Ash and his friends team up with Melody to try and communicate with Whismur and convince it to stop its rampage. However, they soon discover that their task is easier said than done. The townspeople are a rowdy bunch, and the slightest noise seems to set Whismur off. It’s not long before the contest turns into an all-out battle, as the townspeople fight to outdo each other in their quest for silence.
As the contest rages on, they discover that the true source of Whismur’s anger is not the townspeople, but a group of Loudred that have taken up residence in the town’s clock tower. The Loudred have been making so much noise that they’ve caused Whismur to become enraged. With this newfound information, Ash and his friends hatch a plan to lure the Loudred out of the clock tower and into a nearby field where they won’t disturb anyone.
Despite some setbacks, they manage to carry out their plan and lure the Loudred away from the town. With the source of its anger gone, Whismur calms down and returns to its peaceful ways. The townspeople are overjoyed to see that their town is safe once again, and they thank Ash, his friends, and Melody for their help.
In the end, Melody decides to travel with Ash and his friends on their journey. She hopes to learn more about the different languages of Pokémon and to continue honing her skills as a translator. As they bid farewell to the town and all of its inhabitants, Ash and his friends prepare to tackle their next challenge on the road to becoming Pokémon Masters.
