Ash and the gang decide to help the scientist collect the ingredients, so they venture into the forest.

As they make their way through the forest, they encounter various Bug Pokemon, including Beedrill, Caterpie, and Pinsir. Misty is not a fan of bugs and is often grossed out by them, but the group works together to collect the necessary ingredients. Along the way, they also come across a young boy who is trying to catch a Caterpie to add to his collection. The boy explains that he is an aspiring Bug Pokemon Trainer and has been trying to catch a Caterpie for a long time. Ash decides to help the boy catch the Caterpie and gives him some tips on how to be a good trainer.

The gang decides to head back to the previous town to get the badge before continuing on their journey.
