Ash and friends stumble upon a group of Farfetch'd in the middle of a forest. Misty and Brock explain that Farfetch'd are known for their delicious flavor and are sought after by many trainers. However, capturing Farfetch'd is illegal in the area. The group soon realizes that one of the Farfetch'd, nicknamed Ducky, is injured and unable to fly with the rest of the group.

To make matters worse, Team Rocket interferes and captures Ducky, hoping to sell it for a high price. Ash and friends team up with a local forest ranger named Cal to track down Team Rocket and rescue Ducky. Meanwhile, Ducky bonds with Pikachu and reveals that it has always dreamed of being a strong and powerful Pokemon like Pikachu.

After a series of intense battles, Ash and Pikachu team up to defeat Team Rocket and rescue Ducky. The group is then faced with a tough decision - should they release Ducky back into the wild or bring it along with them on their journey? In the end, they decide to release Ducky and watch as it flies away with its Farfetch'd friends.

Throughout the episode, the importance of respecting and protecting Pokemon is emphasized, as well as the significance of friendship and empathy. The episode also showcases the unique abilities and personalities of different Pokemon species, highlighting the diversity within the world of Pokemon.
