Ep 29. Cottonee in Love!

Ash and friends arrive at a flower garden where they notice a large number of Cottonee floating around. The garden is attended to by a gardener named Lillip, who informs the group that the Cottonee are in the middle of their mating season, which occurs every 100 years. While talking, they suddenly notice one Cottonee who is different from the rest, it has a broken tail. Noticing this, Lillip informs the group that Cottonee with broken tails have a hard time finding a mate.

Soon after, they meet a boy named Daniel, who tells them that he is in love with a Petilil that lives on a hill in the forest. The group agrees to help Daniel meet his love, and as they travel through the forest, they encounter a group of Cottonee. Daniel tries to impress the Petilil by showing off his dance moves, but to no avail. He then tries to give her a gift, but the Cottonee steal it and run away.

While trying to retrieve the gift, the group encounters a gang of Amoongus who have taken it. Ash and his friends engage in a battle with the Amoongus, and ultimately defeat them. The group then returns to the hill where Petilil lives with the gift in tow.

Daniel finally presents the gift to Petilil, but she doesn't seem impressed. The group soon realizes that Petilil is in fact deeply in love with Daniel, but she is afraid of expressing it. Meanwhile, the Cottonee who was different from the others has made its way to the hill and begins to pursue Petilil.

As the Cottonee makes its way closer, Daniel and the group notice that it has a broken tail. They quickly realize that this is the same Cottonee that they had seen previously in the garden, and begin to understand the struggle it must be going through to find a mate. As the Cottonee approaches, Petilil jumps in front of Daniel, declaring her love for him and asking the Cottonee to leave him alone.

The Cottonee, shocked by Petilil's bold action, decides to leave them alone and fly off. A moment later, they hear a soft humming sound, and notice that the Cottonee have joined together to form a heart shape in the sky. Realizing that the Cottonee have found their mates, Ash and his friends celebrate the love that is in the air.

As the episode ends, Daniel thanks Ash and his friends for their help. He then invites them to stay for the festival that is being held in honor of the Cottonee's mating season. The group happily accepts, and enjoys the festivities as they celebrate the love that is all around them.
