Ep 1. 1. Get the Show on the Road!

Ash, Pikachu, and Brock have arrived in the Hoenn region and are beginning their new journey. In this episode, titled "Get the Show on the Road!," Ash is eager to get his first Hoenn region gym badge and begins his search for a local gym. Along the way, they meet a girl named May who has just received her first Pokemon, Torchic, and is preparing to begin her own journey as a trainer.
As they travel together, May becomes frustrated with her lack of knowledge about Pokemon and the basics of being a trainer. Ash, Pikachu, and Brock offer to help teach her in exchange for her guiding them to the next town where the gym is located. May agrees and they set off on their journey together.
Throughout the episode, they encounter various wild Pokemon and battle other trainers. The battles are intense and the animation is impressive, as the audience can see the skill and strategy involved in Pokemon battles. May is especially enamored with the battles and becomes even more motivated to learn and improve as a trainer.
As they near the town with the gym, they encounter a group of Pokemon thieves who are attempting to steal a trainer's Pokemon. Ash and May quickly jump into action to defend the trainer and his Pokemon, showcasing their bravery and skills as trainers. This scene is action-packed and demonstrates the importance of teamwork and quick thinking in battles.
Finally, they arrive in Rustboro City, the location of the first gym. However, they are surprised to find that the gym is closed for renovations. Feeling defeated, Ash and May begin to lose hope in their journey. However, a local gym leader named Roxanne offers to battle them once the gym reopens and gives them hope that they can still pursue their goals as trainers.
The episode ends with Ash and May promising to work together and continue on their journey, eager to improve their skills and catch new Pokemon. The first episode of Pokemon the Series: Ruby & Sapphire sets the stage for an exciting new adventure, showcasing the beauty and diversity of the Hoenn region and the passion and drive of its trainers.
