Following the death of her parents many years ago, a woman named Celia Ravenscroft is left with unanswered questions about their mysterious past. When Celia turns to her godmother, Ariadne Oliver, for help in unraveling the truth, Ariadne reaches out to her old friend Hercule Poirot to assist in the investigation.
