Plebs follows the hilarious misadventures of three young men in ancient Rome as they navigate through everyday life in the city. In season 5 episode 5, titled The Hooligans, our trio of friends - Marcus (Tom Rosenthal), Stylax (Joel Fry), and Aurelius (Ryan Sampson) - find themselves in the middle of a turf war between two rival groups of hooligans.
As usual, the boys are broke and looking for a way to make some quick cash. They wind up joining the Hooligans, a rowdy gang of locals who are always causing trouble around town. Marcus is hesitant at first, but Stylax and Aurelius are eager to make some new friends and live the thug life.
The Hooligans are led by the fearless Swayze (Jamie Demetriou), who immediately takes a liking to Stylax and Aurelius. Marcus, on the other hand, doesn't seem to fit in quite as well. He struggles to keep up with the Hooligans' rough-and-tumble ways, but eventually starts to get into the swing of things.
The boys soon discover that the Hooligans are in the midst of a turf war with their bitter rivals, the Snorkels. The Snorkels are led by the menacing Muggedus (Danny Babington), who will stop at nothing to take over the Hooligans' territory.
The tension between the two groups comes to a head when Swayze and Muggedus agree to settle their differences in a winner-takes-all game of football. Marcus, Stylax, and Aurelius are recruited to play on the Hooligans' team, but they quickly realize that they're in way over their heads.
Despite their lack of athletic ability, the boys do their best to help the Hooligans win the game. There are plenty of laughs along the way, as the boys try to keep up with their more experienced teammates and avoid getting trampled by the Snorkels.
The Hooligans eventually emerge victorious, thanks in no small part to Marcus' last-minute heroics on the field. The boys celebrate with their new friends, but it quickly becomes clear that the turf war isn't over yet. Muggedus and his gang are still out there, plotting their revenge.
Overall, The Hooligans is a hilarious and action-packed episode of Plebs that showcases the show's talent for blending physical comedy with historical setting. Fans of the series won't want to miss this one.
