In the seventh episode of the third season of the hit British sitcom Plebs, titled "The New Master," our three hapless heroes Marcus (Tom Rosenthal), Stylax (Joel Fry), and Grumio (Ryan Sampson) are back with a vengeance. This time, they are faced with a new master of their workplace, the ailing but formidable Lucius (Karl Theobald), who has taken over from their previous boss, the affable but bumbling Waterboy (Tom Basden).
The episode opens with the guys feeling despondent and hopeless as Lucius has made it clear that they are to be kept on their toes and punished for any infraction. This puts a damper on Stylax's usual shenanigans and Marcus' attempts at being the office charmer. In desperation, they turn to Grumio for help, who has an idea that involves using the office's copy machine to make some cheeky photocopies that just might ensure their continued employment.
As the guys plot their next move, they are interrupted by the arrival of Lucius, who has news that will change their lives forever. He informs them that he has recently become engaged to his much younger girlfriend, Lavina (Sally Bretton), and as a result, he will be leaving the office to start a new life with her in the countryside. This news is met with mixed reactions from the guys. Marcus sees it as an opportunity to perhaps gain favor with Lucius by offering to help him pack up his desk, while Stylax is more concerned with what this means for their jobs. Grumio, as usual, is more interested in raiding the kitchen for snacks.
In the following scenes, we see the guys adjust to their new boss, a man named Amnesia (played by comedian Tim Key), who is oddly forgetful and prone to fits of absent-mindedness. At first, the guys are thrilled at the prospect of a more easy-going boss. However, as they quickly find out, Amnesia's forgetfulness leads to all sorts of workplace chaos, including misplaced files, lost memos, and even a dramatic fire.
The episode concludes with the guys once again realizing that they need to take matters into their own hands if they want to keep their jobs and ensure that the office runs smoothly. With a little cunning and a lot of luck, they are able to come up with a solution that just might be enough to convince their new boss that they are the right guys for the job.
Overall, "The New Master" is a hilarious and fast-paced episode that showcases the talents of the show's main cast. Running at just over twenty minutes, it's the perfect dose of comedy to give you a lift on a dreary day. Whether you're a die-hard fan of the show or are just looking for a good laugh, this episode is sure to deliver.
