In the second episode of Pit Boss season 1 titled "The Big Dog is Back", we follow the life of Shorty Rossi, his right-hand man Ronald, and their pit bull rescue team. After a successful rescue in the previous episode, the team is all set for another challenge.
The episode begins with Shorty receiving a call from a couple who is in desperate need of his help. They own a female pit bull named Tia who has given birth to thirteen puppies, however, one of them has a cleft palate and is not able to eat properly. The puppy is weak and in critical condition, so they need Shorty's expertise to save her.
The team visits the couple's house to diagnose the problem and get the puppy the necessary medical treatment. Shorty takes the puppy to Dr. Karen, an animal surgeon, who performs surgery on her. The surgery is successful, but the puppy needs to be fed every two hours around the clock. So, Shorty and his team take turns feeding her every two hours till she gains strength.
In the meantime, Ronald is assigned to a task of his own. He is called to a location where a pit bull has been abandoned by its owner. The dog is left tied to a tree and is in bad shape. Ronald takes the dog to the team's rescue center where Dr. Karen examines him and tells them that the dog's legs are paralyzed due to a spinal injury, and he may never be able to walk again.
Shorty decides to take this dog, whose name is Nemo, under his wing and make him a part of the team, despite his condition. The team works hard to help Nemo regain his strength by providing him with physiotherapy, acupuncture, and hydrotherapy. They also fit him with a custom-made wheelchair, which helps him move around and acts as a symbol of hope for other disabled dogs.
In addition to that, the team receives another call for a rescue mission. They are called to rescue a pit bull who is being kept in a storage container. The team is aware of the fact that there might be more than one dog in the container, so they come up with a plan to rescue the dogs. They bring some food and a slip lead to the location and successfully rescue the pit bull. Upon inspecting the container, they find out that there were two more dogs there who had already died due to dehydration.
Shorty is determined to bring justice to the dogs who lost their lives and goes to the police to report the people responsible for their deaths. He also makes sure that the rescued pit bull gets a chance to find a loving home and a second chance at life.
Overall, "The Big Dog is Back" is a heartwarming episode that showcases the Pit Boss team's passion for rescue work. The episode highlights the importance of being proactive when it comes to animal welfare and the importance of giving all those abandoned and ill-treated dogs a second chance at life.
