Ep 6. Bobbie Jo's Sorority

In Petticoat Junction season 3 episode 6 titled "Bobbie Jo's Sorority," the Bradley sisters are buzzing with excitement as Bobbie Jo gets the opportunity to pledge for one of the most elite sororities in the county, Beta Gamma Gamma. Kate, the matriarch of the family, is proud of her daughter and offers to help with the initiation process and decorate for the event.

The sorority house is owned by Orrin Pike, a wealthy businessman who has a reputation for throwing fabulous parties. Despite his cold demeanor, Bobbie Jo's sorority sisters, especially Cindy and Muffin, can’t stop raving about how wonderful he is.

Bobbie Jo is determined to impress her sorority sisters, so she spends her days studying for her initiation and her nights preparing decorations with her mother, Kate. The sisters challenge Bobbie Jo to steal Orrin’s garden gnome for the initiation, but she hesitates since it’s not only hard to do but also risky.

Meanwhile, Uncle Joe is convinced that Orrin Pike is part of a sinister conspiracy that involves moonlit midnight meetings, strange guests in the hotel, and radioactive materials. He enlists the help of his nephews to search Orrin’s house for proof of his transgressions.

On the day of the initiation, Bobbie Jo and her sorority sisters are dressed in their finest dresses. Kate impresses Orrin with her charm and personality, which only serves to further mystify Uncle Joe. As the night progresses, it becomes clear that the garden gnome is still in Orrin’s possession.

The initiation involves a series of fun games and events, including a dance contest, which Bobbie Jo and her partner, Muffin, win. Cindy, who placed second, becomes envious and angry, leading her to demand Bobbie Jo to steal Orrin Pike’s garden gnome.

Determined to prove her loyalty and impress her sisters, Bobbie Jo sneaks into Orrin’s garden, but she finds herself in a dangerous situation when she realizes that Orrin’s dog, Duke, is guarding the gnome. Bobbie Jo quickly comes up with a plan and manages to steal the gnome, but Duke chases her through the garden. Bobbie Jo makes it back to the sorority house safely, but the gnome has been shattered, leaving her and Cindy in a state of panic.

Orrin Pike, unaware of the events occurring outside, joins Bobbie Jo and her sorority sisters for the disco party. Meanwhile, Uncle Joe and his nephews search Orrin’s house and find that he is only eccentric, not a criminal mastermind.

As the night comes to an end, Bobbie Jo confesses to her sorority sisters that she broke the gnome, fearing that they would no longer accept her. To her surprise, they forgive her and sing her praises for her bravery. The episode ends with Bobbie Jo and her sisters celebrating their new bond and Uncle Joe resolving never to jump to conclusions again.
