Sotto Voce is the ninth episode of the fifth season of the American crime drama Person of Interest. The episode revolves around the story of a former government worker turned criminal named Terrence "Terry" Easton who has been linked to a robbery at a storage facility. However, Easton is not an ordinary criminal as he possesses a unique skill: he can manipulate people's voices and make them say anything he wants. His abilities have made him a master of deception, and the team needs to stop him before he causes more harm.
The episode begins with Easton's escape from the storage facility robbery and the killing of a police officer. Meanwhile, the team receives an unknown audio file, which they believe is related to the robbery. They decode the audio file and uncover a government program that Easton was a part of, which was intended to create a software that could manipulate human emotions and behavior.
The team quickly realizes that Easton has been using this knowledge to create his voice-manipulation abilities and pull off the robbery. Reese and Finch soon track down Easton's girlfriend, who had been helping him with the robbery. They find out that she, too, has been manipulated by Easton's voice-manipulation abilities.
As they try to track down Easton, the team is met with obstacles and delays. Easton's voice-manipulation abilities allow him to slip through their fingers, and they're unable to catch him. The team enlists the help of a language expert, Dr. Iris Campbell, to help them understand the science behind Easton's abilities.
Together with Dr. Campbell, the team figures out that Easton can manipulate the acoustics of his own voice, which allows him to create an entirely different voice. They use this information to create a device that can track down Easton's true voice, even when he's using his manipulated voice.
In the end, the team is able to catch Easton and bring him to justice after a tense showdown. The episode ends with the team discussing the implications of the government program that created Easton's abilities, questioning if something like this could be used for greater good or if it's too dangerous to exist.
Sotto Voce is an action-packed episode that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats.
