The show Person of Interest premiered on September 22, 2011 and ran for five seasons. It follows tech genius Harold Finch (Michael Emerson) and former CIA agent John Reese (Jim Caviezel) as they work to prevent violent crimes with the help of a highly advanced artificial intelligence program known as "The Machine."
Season 1, episode 5 of Person of Interest is titled "Judgement." The episode begins with Finch receiving a new number from The Machine. The number belongs to Judge William Lexner (David Costabile), a corrupt judge who has been letting criminals walk free in exchange for bribes.
Finch and Reese begin to dig into Judge Lexner's past and quickly discover that he has a dark secret. Years ago, Judge Lexner presided over a case involving a young woman named Rachel Langdon who was convicted of murdering her abusive husband. Despite overwhelming evidence of self-defense, Judge Lexner sentenced Rachel to 11 years in prison.
Reese and Finch believe that Rachel has been released from prison and is now seeking revenge against Judge Lexner. They set out to find her before she can carry out her plan. As they investigate, they discover that Rachel's life has been destroyed by her time in prison and that she has nothing left to lose.
Meanwhile, Detective Carter (Taraji P. Henson) is closing in on Reese's whereabouts. She has been tracking his movements and has identified him as the man responsible for saving a number of victims, despite his vigilante tactics. Carter is determined to find out the truth about Reese and how he is connected to the latest string of crimes in the city.
As the episode progresses, Reese and Finch race against time to stop Rachel from killing Judge Lexner. Along the way, they uncover a complex web of corruption and deceit that goes all the way to the top of the city's legal system.
In the final moments of the episode, Reese and Judge Lexner come face to face with Rachel. It becomes clear that Rachel's plan involves more than just killing the corrupt judge – she is also seeking justice for all of the victims who have been let down by the system.
